EVO oil, everything there is to know.
You think you know everything about EVO Oil?
The word “EVO” stands for Extra Virgin Olive Oil but most of you already knew that!
Difference between EVO Oil and Olive Oil
What is perhaps more difficult to know is the difference between EVO Oil and Olive Oil which I will try to explain briefly. Both are descended from the fruit of the Olive tree (Olea europaea). EVO oil is the most natural and healthy product that can be obtained because it is obtained directly from olives and only by mechanical processes, even better if there is a cold extraction process (i.e. extraction temperature below 27°C ). The taste of an extra virgin olive oil must be as close as possible to the essence of its fruit, because it is a real “squeezed”.
Virgin olive oil is not so healthy and pure because it is mixed with refined oils (let us not be fooled by the word “refined” because in this case it does not mean quality!).
Why use EVO Oil?
If I told you that you can really use it on everything, would you believe it? A dish accompanied by a round of high quality oil gives you a completely different taste. Even a simple salad can become a very tasty dish if seasoned well!
Extra virgin olive oil contains 99,9 % lipids, vitamin E and vitamin K, potassium, sodium, calcium, iron and zinc. Lipids are made up of triglycerides, the main constituents of the oil, which are fatty acids. With regular use, extra virgin olive oil helps to lower cholesterol, prevent the risk of stroke, decreases the possibility of heart attack by about 30% and decreases blood pressure, as well as diabetes. It is also considered an antitumor. You can also use it to bring benefits to your physical well-being, with cosmetic products based on extra virgin olive oil.
Why is it healthy?
From a nutritional point of view, the characteristics of extra virgin olive oil are the main reasons for the consumption of this food, EVO oil (the good and healthy one) is a natural source with an antioxidant power that protects the cell membranes from the aging processes of the skin. Let’s not forget that it can also be a substitute for butter, in fact it can be used as an ingredient in desserts: for example tarts, donuts etc..
Please remember to always buy a high quality oil! I remind you that this simple food is actually essential for your health, your well-being and your palate. You can find it everywhere, from the small village grocery store to the big supermarket in the city. You can also buy it online through the e-commerce sites that many oil mills have. My advice is to go directly to an oil mill, let them explain the whole process (from the olive harvest in the field to the finished product) and finally, buy in total safety.
