Useful tips for preserving extra virgin olive oil at home.
When we buy an extra virgin olive oil we do not ask ourselves the problem of where to store it later in the house because it may seem a trivial thought. But no!
An oil packaged in a mill directly, keeps its aromas and perfumes trapped because it is hermetically sealed in cans or bottles following all the procedures in order to maintain all the sensory characteristics exactly as the day it was processed.
Mistakes to avoid
Our friend EVO Oil is not very fond of exposure to light and heat. By heating up, it loses its essential characteristics, thus losing its flavour, taste and vitality! This happens because the oil, over time, is destined to oxidize, thus leading to a progressive rancidity of the product. So… be careful not to put it in too bright or hot places in the kitchen.
The ideal temperature remains between 14° and 16° degrees.
Let’s always remember not to transfer extra virgin olive oil from cans to plastic bottles because, besides being unhygienic, oleic acid (an intrinsic characteristic of EVO Oil could attack the plastic and thus be unhealthy for our well-being).
